What Is a Double Holo Error?
One of the most recognized print anomalies from the early Pokémon TCG era. PSA recognizes the Double Holo Error on Gyarados, Magikarp, Houndoom, Ho-Oh, Celebi, Misdreavus, and Crobat. CGC recognizes the variation across all 16 holo cards in the set. No other grading company currently catalogs the Double Holo Error.
A white opaque ink layer is applied over the artwork to block the holofoil from bleeding into parts of the illustration.
On a portion of the Neo Revelation print run, that ink layer was applied too thin or missed entirely. This impacted some of the cards more so than others.
Holo shimmer appears more boldly and even appears on some of the Pokémon bodies. On some cards the holo hides parts of the artwork, and on others it removes white lines or replaces them with a slight holo tint.

Print Run Population
The Double Holo Error appears across all 16 holo cards in Neo Revelation — but not equally. 1st Edition copies are rarer on two levels: a significantly shorter print run, and a lower error rate within that already-limited pool.
Why 1st Edition is rarer than the numbers suggest: A 2–4% error rate on a short print run produces far fewer absolute copies than a 10–13% rate on a larger Unlimited run. When you factor in the print run size, a 1st Edition Double Holo Error is significantly harder to find than the percentage alone implies.
